! ROLLO GRAY IS DEAD OF WOUND FROM BULLET Marion paper 1913 Rolla Gray, 6, succumbed to the wound in the right breast inflicted Saturday when William Cunningham, 16, accidentally dis- charged a revolver. Seized with fright the Cunningham lad hastily wrote a note to his father and fled. The parent was away from home at the time of the shooting at his work at the Hoosier Stove company. In the note the lad told his father that if he wished to know why he had gone away he could find out by calling at the Rolla Gray home, South Marion. When Mr. Cunningham called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Gray he learned the truth and what had happened. He at once began a hunt for his son and found him at the home of the boy's aunt in Wabash and brought him back to this city. The police made an investigation and found the shooting was purely accidental. Cunningham was holding an empty revolver in the left hand and his father's loaded revolver in the right hand. That in the left hand was being snapped and becoming confused the boy pulled the trigger of his loaded revolver, sending a fatal shot into the Gray boys right lung. As a result of the police investigation Scott Baldwin, a coal dealer at Eighteenth street at the intersection of the Big Four and Clover Leaf tracks, has been arrested suspected of furnishing a minor with a deadly and dangerous weapon. It is claimed by the police he supplied William Levi, a minor, with an empty revolver. Levi's intention being to trade it to Roy Gray, a brother to the dead boy, for a bicycle. When Levi appeared at the Gray home, Hemley (Ermley) Gray, another brother, desired that a test of the revolver be made. The boys with other companions, went to the Cun- ningham home, 2532 Clark street and there young Cunningham provided the weapon with a cartridge which was discharged. Then following the production of his father's revolver and the shooting. Baldwin was released on his own recognizance to appear in court this morning.
