!Jesse Martin Beard was the son of William and Mary Tucker Beard. He was born Dec. 1, 1844 (another source says 1843). He married Frances Angeline Webb, daughter of Zachariah and Nancy Hough Webb. They were married Mar. 8, 1863. Jesse Martin Beard died Nov. 13, 1919. His funeral was preached by Rev. F.M. Huckleberry, assisted by Rev. G.C. Chandler, burial in Second Mount Pleasant Cemetery. (Note: I believe his stone said 1843 - sdw).

!John Beard, eldest son of William and Mary Tucker Beard was born in Johnson County, Ind. Feb. 4, 1842 and died from a fall from the second story of a building he was remodeling, May 17, 1888. He was an active member of the Baptist Church, active in Temperance reform and greatly beloved by all who knew him. John Beard was a member of Hesperian Lodge No. 12, Knights of Pythias and resolutions setting forth his value to the Order and community were spread upon the records of the Lodge, and published in the local papers. He married first, Idabelle Carson (another source says Isabelle Voris, perhaps she was married before) of Shelby County, Ind., she died Feb. 21, 1866, age 21 years, 2 months and 5 days. He married second, June 23, 1868, Emma K. Crowthers, she was born April 4, 1843 in Boonville, Missouri and died in Franklin, Indiana, Feb. 28, 1869. One child, John Emmett Beard was born to this marriage, Feb. 4, 1869 in Franklin, Indiana. John E. died August 10, 1916 in Chicago, Illinois, survived by his widow but no children. On August 16, 1876, John Beard was married for the 3rd time. Lucy (Applegate) Beard survived him by several years.

!Malinda Jane Beard, daughter of William and Mary Jane Tucker Beard was born in Needham Twp., Johnson Co., Ind., Sept. 29, 1851 and died at the home of her mother on East King St., Franklin, Ind. Sept. 19, 1873 of tuberculosis. She married Dec. 26, 1871, Robert S. Fitzpatrick, there was a daughter, Alma, who preceeded her mother in death, aged about one year.
